DESHABHIMANI news paper is published from different cities of Kerala the south most part of India. Ownership of this news paper is with CPI (M) the left wing political party of India. The news paper was started with an intention to promote the political ideology among the massess. Now its circulation is very good and is been read by most of the people in the Kerala State.
The daily is published from cities like Trivandrum, Kollam, Kochi, Calicut etc. Normally the Chief Editor of the daily is appointed by CPI (M) only. Most of the news will have a leftist colour. The title of the paper means that "One who is proud of his country".
This news paper has cultivated reading habbit among the poor people and even the beedi labours of Kannur are reading this. The system in the beedi factories is that one man will read the news paper loudly and others while listening to him do their work of making beedies (the indian form of cigarett).
Such activities from the left parties has major contrubution in increasing literacy percentage of the state and today Kerala is having highest literacy in India. It has also given advantage to the party as it can propagate its idea through this media which reach out to the remote corners of the state.
