Ne Banadi Jodi gave birth to many expectations. The jodi of Aditya Chopra and King Khan has produced sparks on screen. But they perhaps have failed to quench the thirst of people. Shahrukh Khan has utilised his experience finely to present both the characters of Raj and Suri. But the expressions that Shahrukh gives while acting as Raj fail to lit a spark. It is quite obvious that Shahrukh is ageing.He might have created six packs but he has also developed wrinkles on face.Actually Shahrukh's Raj has become very common. He is also very unreal.A girl can only dream about having a boy friend like Raj. On the other hand Suri is so dull, yet so lovable.Infact Suri seems to be more attractive and close to our heart than Raj.Suri is different from other characters on screen. He is ordinary. He falls in love at first sight of the girl on her wedding day. He can do anything for his love. But he cannot express his love. This is one of the main elements of the story.
Now there is the lady-love, the jubilant talkative. punjab ki jubni who is dancing on her wedding day and eagerly waiting for her Barati to come. But then Rab turns and twists the story. Barati meets an accident. Dulhan Taani promises her father that she will marry Suri, her father's best student. Both get married. But Taani according to her is determined not to fall in love or perhaps the dull- looking Suri pinches her eyes. So she declares before Suri that though she can not love him, she will try to be a good wife.But mochhewala, good boy Suri is already in love with her. He knows his limitation. So when his beautiful wife goes for dancing classes, he dresses like the heroes for whom Taani claps and whistles.Thus Raj is given birth. Now a triangle love story begins. Raj flirts, teases and then sacrifices his dancing classes for Tanni.He dances, delivers romantic dialogue. Now the question is how can a man like Suri change so suddenly and become so much extrovert like Raj?Sometimes even it seems that Raj and Suri are actually two different men. But the confusion lies on what the girl wants. Atfirst she remains indifferent to her husband. Then suddenly she finds herself in love with Raj only after he proposes to her and atlast she goes back to her husband. Rab ne is a kind of story which reminds us of the predestination concept. Man is predestined. Jodias are made in heaven. in this sense it is a sweet story. Anuska Sharma's acting is fine. She has spontaneity. Infact her dance steps are more defined than Shahrukh's. The location of Suri's house is easily identifiable with any gali in Amritsar or in Delhi. It is well-matched up with its story. If we talk about its music, there is not much to say. "Haule haule.." and "Tujme rab dikhta hain" are able to touch our heart. But except these two numbers Suleiman has not done much justice to other numbers.As a whole, Aditya Chopra has made a good come back, if not great in compare to his Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
