Rachel Dwyer ki ‘100 Bollywood Films’ ek filmon ka sangrah
hai jo us paridhi mein aati hai jahaan veh Bollywood cinema ke vishay mein apni
samajh darshaati hai. Parichay, jo is sangrah ka matitaarth hai, unke chayan ka
varnan karta hai – filmein Hindi mein honi chahiye, Bharat mein nirmit aur
darshayi jaani chahiye aur Bhartiya cinema ke itihaas ke liye mahattvapoorn honi
chahiye. Veh kehti hai ki unhone vaise filmein chuni hai jinmein aakarshit
karne wali baatein hai jaise naatak, bhaavpoorn samvaad, ityaadi. Yeh
maryaadaayein kuch ajeeb sangrah banaati hai jinmein ‘Aankhein’ jaisi film to
hai, magar ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum’ aur ‘Baghbaan’ nahin hai, jo box-office
hits thi – aur ‘Darr’ aur ‘Company’ bhi nahin hai jisne khalnayak ko nayak
banaya aur naa hi ‘Black’ hai jisne aadhunik cinema ki paribhaasha likhi. Iske
saath hi, parallel cinema ki anupasthiti is sangrah mein ek bahut badi vanchana
hai. Film premi ‘Saaraansh’, ‘Sparsh’ aur ‘Mr. & Mrs. Iyer’ ki rasi-basi
sundarta ko nazarandaaz nahin kar sakte. Yeh apoornta ka ehsaas is pustak ko
poori tarah se maar daalta hai. Dilchaspi ghatati hai jab paathak Bollywood ko
gambheer roop mein dekhta hai. Apne tattva-gnyaani vilobhanon ke vajah se Dwyer
yeh baat bhool jaati hai ki film ki achchai usko mili bhaavik prashansa se hai
aur na ki kisi likhit maryaadaaon se. Phir bhi, ek chikitsak maadhyam se hum
baareekiyon ki daad de sakte hai jo unki bahut-avleshit filmon mein hai. Magar,
maansik sthar par hum sirf Dwyer ke chayan ki ninda hi kar sakte hai.
